Deep Down Comfort When All Is Bare
A colleague thought he was being funny in sendding me this forwarded copy of Jesus Loves Me (adult version). It is and yet ....
Hey, this is my favorite song. And now that I am old, I understand why it is the adults who sing it more often than the kiddos. Now I know because I am often on my knees singing it. I found myself singing it at an altar call recently in UMS Sabah too.
Why? Personally, we feel more battered in life. And when everything is stripped away, as life often has a way of doing, we adults just know that what matters is, Jesus loves me!"
For me, it is often the voice of my beloved Father, my beloved Lord Jesus, and the comfort of the Holy Spirit, which makes me get up from my despairing knees ...and walk out of my room and face life with a smile. Hey, don't you know? Jesus loves me?!! (and you too lah, hai yah!)
JESUS LOVES ME---ADULT VERSION
A preacher once stated, "I always noticed that its was the adults who chose the children's hymn 'Jesus Loves Me' (for the children of course) during a hymn sing, and it was the adults who sang the loudest because I could see they knew it the best." Here is a new version just for us who have white hair, or no hair at all. For us over 40 and all you others... Or even under 40! Check out this newest version of "Jesus Loves Me". It is quite cute, so read, sing and enjoy:"
Jesus loves me, this I know,
Though my hair is white as snow.
Though my sight is growing dim,
Still He bids me trust in Him.
(CHORUS)
YES, JESUS LOVES ME... YES, JESUS LOVES ME...
YES, JESUS LOVES ME FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO.
Though my steps are oh, so slow,
With my hand in His I'll go.
On through life, let come what may,
He'll be there to lead the way.
Though I am no longer young,
I have much which He's begun.
Let me serve Christ with a smile,
Go with others the extra mile.
When the nights are dark and long,
In my heart He puts a song.
Telling me in words so clear,
"Have no fear, for I am near."
When my work on earth is done,
And life's victories have been won.
He will take me home above,
Then I'll understand His love.
I love Jesus, does he know?
Have I ever told Him so?
Jesus loves to hear me say,
That I love Him every day.

I like this song too! It's still number one on my list of songs that bring tears to my eyes. Maybe it's because of its simple, childlike words that bring us back to the days when our faith and outlook on life was so beautifully innocent and naive. Deep in my heart I long for those days...
When I saw the phrase 'adult version', my first impression was that it was 'adult' in the sense of 18sx!! Oops.. must be my corrupted mind!
I kind of like this version though.. especially when I see some of the old folk in my church and look at how in their old age they are still faithfully making use of whatever physical strength they have left to serve God and others...
feel like crying when i actually sing this version out in my heart.
i feel that i'm old too hehe
Oh no! I'm getting old too!!! Cos I love to sing this song. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside thinking about the innocence of these words.
